Calculate Your Personal Loan Payment
How do I calculate personal loan repayments in NZ?
Your repayment comes from the amount, the fixed rate, and the term — the calculator combines them with the same amortisation formula NZ lenders use. Because the rate is fixed, the repayment never changes over the term. New to personal loans? Start with our complete guide to personal loans in NZ.
What rate should I use?
Use 9.99%–13.95% with a strong credit history, 13.95%–19.95% for average or limited history, and 19.95%–29.99% if you're rebuilding — the same ranges shown in the cost table on our personal loans page.
How does the term change the cost?
On a $15,000 loan at 13.95% APR you'd pay roughly $166 a week over 24 months (about $2,300 total interest), $118 a week over 36 months (about $3,400), or $80 a week over 60 months (about $5,900) — the longer the term, the lower the weekly cost but the higher the total. Indicative only, excluding fees.
Does checking repayments affect my credit score?
No — only an actual application creates a credit inquiry; running numbers here is invisible to lenders.
Can I use a personal loan to buy a car?
Yes, though a secured car loan is usually cheaper if the vehicle qualifies — see whether a car loan or personal loan fits your purchase, or run car numbers on our car loan calculator.
